Placing the events of the busiest season in proper perspective
The Christmas season is so incredibly busy, and choirs and their directors can truly very easily become distracted by all that must be done to adorn the season. But this year, when the dust settles and the big program is over, consider conveying some of these warm words of encouragement to your ensemble. Please feel free to copy and paste as seems useful to you.
Dear Choir Member,
I want to take a moment to thank you for your tremendous investment of time, talent and energy this past Christmas season. We are a team, and your contribution to our team cannot be fully measured or understood this side of heaven. I am so proud of every effort given toward making the Christmas season such a wonderful experience for all who heard you sing.
Although I received many personal comments, emails, text messages and the like thanking you for your amazing singing, I want you to know all your contribution means to me personally. I am so humbled and blessed to be your director. I derive such tremendous personal joy from leading you, that sometimes I feel guilty. Thank you for blessing my life. When I hear you sing with passion and focus, I realize what a beautiful place the world can be, and I feel so much peace and joy. For those special experiences, I am truly grateful.
There is always pain in growth and development, so our pathway has not always been smooth and easy. Although I do not apologize for challenging you as singers and people, I do want you to know how much I love you and want the very best for you in every endeavor you pursue. Know that I am always here for you, to encourage you, challenge you, accept you and guide you throughout your lives. And I know you will do the same for one another as brothers and sisters.
I am planning and praying for a wonderful 2020 and look forward to our new adventures together as music makers, leaders and fellow travelers in this life.
