Milt Elben

 

1964  - 1968  Sang in United Methodist Student Center Choir at University of Kentucky

1968  -  BA Degree, Univ. of Ky.  (English - major)  (Music History – minor)

1968  -  1970   U.S. Army Signal Corps commissioned officer (stateside and Vietnam)

1974  -   BA Degree, Univ. of Ky.  (Voice - major)  (Choral Conducting – minor)

1970  -   1074  Directed United Methodist Student Center choir which tripled in size and

                  performance opportunities under Milt’s leadership.

    

     For the next six years Milt was employed full-time as a music minister at churches in

Ohio and Kentucky.  However, when new opportunities presented themselves to relocate

to Isle of Palms, South Carolina, near Charleston, Milt and his wife, Joyce, “answered the call”.

They decided to become bi-vocational mixing secular work with sacred calling.  At this time

Milt began composing hymn tunes and texts, psalm settings, choir anthems and children’s

pieces.
